Phil Read

Phillip William " Phil" Read, MBE, ( born January 1, 1939 in Luton, England) is a former British motorcycle racer.

He participated in the Motorcycle World Championship and was the first driver to the world championship in motorcycle road racing in classes 125 cc, 250 cc and 500 cc win. Overall, he won seven world titles, five on Yamaha and two on MV Agusta. Frequently, however, reads were outshines success through the achievements of his opponent Mike Hailwood.
