Pierre Jonquères d'Oriola

Pierre d' Oriola Jonquères ( born 1 February 1920 in Corneilla -del- Vercol; † July 19, 2011 ) was a French show jumper.

Career

Already d' Oriolas father Joseph was before the Second World War as an active jumpers. D' Oriola was also angespront by the sporting success of his cousin Christian d' Oriola to own athletic performance.

He is one of the most successful show jumpers in history. He won the individual competition at the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 and in Tokyo in 1964. This Jonquères d' Oriola is the only show jumper, who won the Olympic individual gold medal twice. 1964 and 1968 he won the silver medal also still with the French team.

In 1966 he became world champion in show jumping in Buenos Aires. After this success, he was inducted into the French Legion of Honour.
