Plamen Oresharski

Plamen Vassilev Oresharski (also Plamen Vasilev Oresharski written, Bulgarian Пламен Василев Орешарски; born February 21, 1960 in Bobow Dol, Kyustendil Oblast ) is a Bulgarian politician and, since May 29, 2013 Prime Minister of the country. Oresharski was already Finance Minister in the government of Sergey Stanishev (2005-2009) and Deputy Minister of Finance in the government of Ivan Kostov (1997-2001).

After the early parliamentary elections in 2013, the nonpartisan Oresharski was appointed by a coalition consisting of the Bulgarian Socialist Party and the Turkish minority party Movement for Rights and Freedoms as prime minister and elected. Further, the government is supported by the nationalist party Ataka. Oresharski was launched as the leader of a government of experts already in the election campaign by the Stanishev.

In the second week of his tenure, there were nationwide protests against him for his appointment policy to filling important government positions and breach of election promises.
