Poggio Sannita

Poggio Sannita ( in the local dialect: Caccavòn ) is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 753 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the province of Isernia in Molise. The community is located about 25.5 kilometers northeast of Isernia, belongs to the Comunità Montana Alto Molise and directly borders the provinces of Campobasso and Chieti ( Abruzzo ).

History

The early settlements in pre-Roman times is assigned a sub- tribe of the Samnites, the Karakenern. In the Middle Ages it came several times to Sarazeneneinfällen. 740 the village was first mentioned in a document. Until 1922, the place was still called Caccavone.
