Poșaga

Posaga is a town in Alba county in Transylvania, Romania. Parish seat is Posaga de Jos ( Jos din Posaga outdated or Poceaga de Jos; German Puschendorf, Hungarian Alsópodsága or Podsága ).

Geographical location

The municipality is located in north Posaga Alba County on the river Posaga - a left tributary of Aries - the southeast of the Muntele Mare Mountains. In Pimp country, between the limestone massifs Bedeleu and Scărişoara - Belioara, 2 kilometers from the national road (Drum National) DN 75 removed, the place is about 45 kilometers east of Câmpeni ( Topesdorf ); the county capital Alba Iulia ( Charles Castle ) is located about 42 km (air line) southeast.

History

The place Posaga, a former Romanian Nationals village was first mentioned in 1365 under the name Potshaga. He belonged to the domain iron castle in County Torda - Aranyos.

In the field of eingemeindeten village Posaga de Sus are according to reports by G. Téglás from the years 1886, 1901 and 1902, J. Hampel (1892 ), I. Martian (1920 ) and chronicles of C. Gooss (1876 ) archaeological finds of the late Bronze Age has been made. 1843 was found on the territory of the same village, one of the most important Dakerschätze. This is located in Vienna.

The main occupation of the population are forestry, wood processing, fruit growing and cattle breeding; since 1889 is a quarry in operation.

Population

1850 lived on the territory of the present municipality of 1,702 inhabitants; 1,676 of these were Romanians and 26 Roma. 1941, with 2766 having the largest population - and at the same time the Romanians ( 2,765 ) - registered. The highest number of Hungarians (28 ) was in 1900 that the German (13 ) in 1890, which determines the Roma in 1850. 2002 there were still 1,383 people in the municipality ( 1,382 Romanians and Hungarians ).

Attractions

  • The wooden church Sf. (Formerly Belioara ), built in Arhangheli eingemeindeten Posaga de Sus village in 1789, is a listed building.
