Province of Huelva

The province of Huelva (Spanish Provincia de Huelva) is one of the eight provinces of the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain. The capital is Huelva.

It is located in the far west of Andalusia and borders the provinces of Cádiz, Sevilla, and at Badajoz ( Extremadura autonomous region ), to Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean.

The area of ​​the province covers 10,148 km ² and its population amounts to 513 403 people (2009), of which about 30 % live in the capital. In the north, the Sierra de Huelva rises, with the Natural Park Sierra de Aracena.

Huelva shared with the province of Seville, the National Park Coto de Doñana, one of the largest nature reserves in Europe.

The province is divided since March 28, 2003 in six Comarcas, in some lists, the " Sierra de Huelva " and " el Andévalo " is still divided into West ( Occiental ) and Eastern ( Oriental ) areas.
