Pusy-et-Épenoux

Pusy- et- Épenoux is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Pusy- et- Épenoux situated at an altitude of 262 m above sea level, about 6 km north of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, in the Basin of Vesoul, on a plateau between the rivers Bâtard the east and Ruisseau de la Vaugine in the West.

The area of ​​10.07 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the pelvic region of Vesoul. The central part of the area is occupied by the plateau of Pusy, which is on average 260 m. It is slightly inclined to the south and is used predominantly agricultural, but there are also some forest areas, especially the Gros Bois to the southeast. On the north-west, in the area of the Bois du Chanoi, is 294 m reaches the highest point of Pusy- et- Épenoux. In geological- tectonic terms, the terrain consists of an alternation of sandy- marly and calcareous sediments of the lower Jurassic period. The western boundary is the valley of the Ruisseau de la Vaugine, which provides for drainage south to Durgeon.

To the east, the municipality's area extends into the Talniederung of Bâtard, another right tributary of the Durgeon. The heights of the Bois la Dame (285 m) east of the valley belong to Pusy- et- Épenoux.

The double municipality consists of the village Pusy (262 m) on the plateau and the hamlet Épenoux (239 m) on the western edge of the valley of the Bâtard. Neighboring communities of Pusy- et- Épenoux are Bougnon and Auxon in the north, Villeparois in the east, Coulevon and Vesoul in the south and Pusey and Charmoille in the West.

History

Remains from the Roman period indicate a very early occupation of the site. In the Middle Ages Pusy belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had initially served as the Vicomte de Vesoul, later the Lords of Faucogney. The following Pusy shared the fate of the neighboring municipality of Pusey. In the 16th and 17th centuries the town has had to suffer from war campaigns and looting: in 1569 the Church of troops of the Duke Wolfgang was devastated by Pfalz- Zweibrücken. 1595 the village was drawn by the soldiers under Tremblecourt affected. During the Thirty Years' War Pusy was sacked. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. To a field change occurred in 1807, when Épenoux (1806: 97 inhabitants) with Pusy merged. Today Pusy- et- Épenoux is a member of the comprehensive 19 villages municipal association Communauté de communes de l' agglomà de Vesoul.

Attractions

The church Saint -Martin was built in the 19th century, with the ogival choir of the previous building (16th century) was included. It has a remarkable interior, including the richly carved high altar ( 17th century ), several side altars ( 17-18. Century), paneling in the Louis XIV style and various paintings. In the cemetery there is a cross in the 18th century. The Castle of Pusy from the 18th century is located in 1991 owned by the municipality and now houses the municipal administration. Population

With 546 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Pusy- et- Épenoux one of the smaller towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891 376 persons were still counted ), a strong population growth has been recorded since the early 1970s again. Since then, the population has doubled.

Economy and infrastructure

Pusy- et- Épenoux was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the agglomeration Vesoul.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes near a secondary road that leads from Vesoul after Conflans -sur- Lanterne. Further road links exist with Pusey and Bougnon.
