Redemption Song

Redemption Song (English for " Redemption Song " ) is the last piece on Bob Marley's ninth music album, Uprising. At the time when he wrote this piece ( circa 1979 ), cancer was diagnosed in Marley already, who was responsible for his later death. According to his wife Rita Marley Marley suffered in 1979 already severe pain without the post, however, and busied himself with his own mortality. This is evident in the whole album, but especially in this piece.

The music

Marley became world known as a pioneer of reggae music from Jamaica. However, the piece Redemption Song belongs to enter the area of Folk Music. In contrast to most of his other songs Redemption song was recorded as a solo, in which Marley sings alone and accompanies herself with an acoustic guitar. On the reissue of Uprising of 2001, and on the compilation One Love: The Very Best of Bob Marley & the Wailers song was released in a band version as a bonus track of the Redemption. However, the solo version is the best known, most listeners.

  • At the concert America: A Tribute to Heroes, which was performed at the events of September 11, 2001, following, Wyclef Jean sang the song, wrapped in an American flag.

The title Redemption Song has been widely used, especially in the African- American context.
