Renger van der Zande

Renger van der Zande ( born February 16, 1986 Dodewaard ) is a Dutch racing driver. He is the son of the psychologist Ronald van der Zande, the national Dutch Rallycross Champion 1978 on VW Golf 1600 ( nothelle ). In 2011 he started for Persson Motorsport in the DTM.

Career

Van der Zande his motorsport career began in 1999 in karting, where he was active until 2003. In 2004 we launched the young racers for the first time in the Dutch Formula Renault and was finally seventh overall. A year later he secured the championship title in this series. In 2005, he was also still in the German Formula Renault series, which he finished in fifth place, active. In 2006 he moved to the German Formula 3 and finished fourth in the overall standings. He also participated in several races in the A1 Grand Prix the following winter.

2007 joined Van der Zande in the Formula 3 Euro Series and drove for the Prema Powerteam. With a victory in the sprint race at the Circuit de Catalunya as the best result he finished eleventh in the standings. In 2008, Van der Zande started in the Formula 3 Euro Series. Again for the Prema Powerteam driving, he won the sprint race in Hockenheim and Zandvoort, which was his home race. At the end of the season was Van der Zande in fourth place in the overall standings.

In the 2008/2009 GP2 Asia Series season, Van der Zande launched the second round in Dubai for Arden International as a replacement for Mika Mäki. Van der Zande did not score and has been replaced by Edoardo Mortara at the next race weekend. 2009 started van der Zande in the British Formula 3 Championship. After a race weekend before the end he had no shot at the title as runner-up of the Championship, he finished his commitment prematurely. With three victories van der Zande finished end of the season third overall. Having already taken part in a race weekend of the Formula 3 Euro Series, he returned after he had got from the British Formula 3 championship in the Formula 3 Euro Series back and won directly the Sunday race. In the overall classification, he finished 15th overall. In 2010 he started for RSC Mücke Motorsport in the newly founded GP3 Series. As he made his two teammates not attracted attention in the GP3 Series. A third place remained his only result in the points. At the end of the season, he finished 21st place overall. His team finished in last place in the team standings. He also completed two guest appearances in the Formula 3 Euro Series.

2011 joined van der Zande in touring car racing to Persson Motorsport in the DTM. He received an AMG -Mercedes C- class from the year 2008. During the race in Valencia he came in fifth place finish since his car but did not meet the rules in qualifying, he was disqualified. The season he finished with no points. Two tenth places were his best rankings.
