RIM-2 Terrier

RIM -2 Terrier is the name of the first U.S. sea-based ground -to-air medium-range missile. The Terriers had a takeoff thrust of 2,300 kgf, a launch mass of 1,392 kg and a diameter of 0.34 m, a length of 8.08 m and a fin span of 1.59 m. The range was about 32 kilometers. It consisted of a starting stage and a second stage containing the steering system and the warhead. It was first in 1955 to the Baltimore - conversions USS Boston (CAG -1) and USS Canberra ( CAG -2).

Later variants of the terriers were produced under the names RIM -67 Standard Missile.

Modifications

The starting stage of discarded Terrier and Standard missile was also used as the basis for various sounding rockets. For this purpose, the terrier with various upper stages, such as the Asp, the Tomahawk, or Orion, equipped.
