Robin Wright

Robin Virginia Gayle Wright ( born April 8, 1966 in Dallas, Texas ) is an American actress. During her marriage to fellow actor Sean Penn (1996-2010) she went under the name Robin Wright Penn in appearance.

Life and career

Robin Wright grew up in San Diego, California and attended La Jolla High School in the district of La Jolla. At the age of 14, she has worked as a model in Paris and Japan. After graduating from high school she wanted to be an actress. Her debut was in 1983 in the pilot episode of the television series The Yellow Rose. Known to a wider audience, she was with the presentation of Kelly Capwell on the soap opera California communities in which they participated from 1984 to 1988. The role brought her three Emmy nominations.

In addition to her work for television Wright tried to gain a foothold in the film business. Her first starring role she got in Rob Reiner's movie The Princess Bride (1987 ) with Peter Falk and Billy Crystal. After that, she starred alongside Jason Patric in the drama of Denial (1990 ) a young woman who tries to leave her difficult past. In the same year appeared in the thriller forecourt to hell, where she stood in front of the camera for the first time with Sean Penn and starring Ed Harris and Gary Oldman. In 1996, she played the title role in the drama Moll Flanders, the adaptation of the novel by Daniel Defoe 1722; the male lead role was played by Morgan Freeman. For her performance, she was nominated at the Satellite Awards 1997 for Best Actress. Finally, she was still with Kevin Costner in the surprise hit Message in a Bottle (1999 ) and Michelle Pfeiffer in White Oleander (2002) to see.

In 2007, she starred in the computer- animated fantasy film Beowulf by Robert Zemeckis opposite Anthony Hopkins and Angelina Jolie. In 2008, she turned with Robert De Niro comedy Inside Hollywood.

In 2009 she was part of the jury of the 62nd International Film Festival of Cannes.

In 2013 she played herself in the partially computer-animated film The Congress by Ari Folman. A year later she won for her performance as Kevin Spacey's wife in the drama web series House of Cards Golden Globe Award for Best Television Actress.

Private

In his first marriage Robin Wright of 1986 was married to Dane Witherspoon to 1988. Since 1996 she has lived in seclusion in a second marriage with the Oscar-winner Sean Penn, whose name she adopted and with whom she has two children. In April 2008, have already begun divorce proceedings were stopped, a year later, Sean Penn filed for divorce again, pulled the request but shortly afterwards returned.
