Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Morelia

The Archdiocese of Morelia (Latin: Archidioecesis Moreliensis, Spanish: Arquidiócesis de Morelia) is a location in Mexico Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in Morelia.

History

The Archdiocese of Morelia was founded on August 11, 1536 by Pope Paul III. built with the Papal Bull Illius fulciti Praesidio out of territory of the Diocese of Mexico City as the bishopric of Michoacan and the archbishopric of Seville is a suffragan. On 12 February 1546 the diocese of Michoacán was the Archdiocese of Mexico City is a suffragan. The diocese of Michoacán was on July 13, 1548 from parts of its territory to the founding of the diocese of Guadalajara. Other annexations took place on December 15, 1777 establishing the bishopric of Nueva León Linares o and on August 31, 1854 establishing the bishopric of San Luis Potosí. On January 26, 1863, the diocese of Michoacán was part of its territory from establishing the dioceses of León, Querétaro and Zamora.

The diocese of Michoacán was posted on January 26, 1863 by Pope Pius IX. charged with the Papal Bull Catholicae Romanae Ecclesiae to the archbishopric. On March 16, 1863 the Archdiocese of Michoacan was part of its territory from the foundation of the diocese Chilapa. A further transfer of territory took place on July 26, 1913 establishing the bishopric Tacámbaro. The Archdiocese of Michoacan was renamed on November 22, 1924 in Archdiocese of Morelia. On October 13, 1973, the Archdiocese of Morelia were parts of its territory from the foundation of the built with the Apostolic Constitution Scribae illi Evangelico Diocese of Celaya. A further transfer of territory took place on 3 January 2004 founding of the built with the Apostolic Constitution Venerabiles Fratres Diocese of Irapuato.
