Roman Catholic Diocese of PÅ‚ock

The Diocese of Płock (Latin: Dioecesis Plocensis ) is a diocese located in Poland of the Roman Catholic church located in Płock.

History

The Diocese of Płock was in 1075 ( about the time before are basically purely Aryan type ) erected, and thus one of the oldest Polish dioceses. With the restructuring of the Catholic Church in Poland in 1992 ( Totus Tuus Poloniae Populus Apostolic Constitution of 25 March ) yet parts of his pen area to the newly established dioceses Łowicz and Warsaw - Praga. The former Płock Bishop Andrzej Wojciech Suski became the new Bishop of Toruń.

The Assumption Cathedral was consecrated in 1144 and 1910 raised to the Minor Basilica.

Bishops

To the bishop was on 2 May 2007 Piotr Libera, formerly Auxiliary Bishop of Katowice, was appointed. His enthronement took place on 31 May 2007.

In the diocese continues (since 1985 Titular Bishop of Bulla Regia, ) acts Roman Marcinkowski as auxiliary bishop.
