Ron Howard

Ronald William Howard ( * March 1, 1954 in Duncan, Oklahoma) is an American actor, director and film producer.

Life

His career began very early, since his father Rance Howard, a well known actor, him and his brother Clint Howard often housed in children's roles. For years he was listed as Ronny Howard. As such, it is one of the few child stars that have worked successfully as adults. Since his early youth he was interested filmmaking. So he turned with father and siblings as actors smaller films that have received awards in part.

He played quite early in the television series Andy Griffith Show Opie Taylor with the Andy Griffith ( as Ronny Howard out ). At the movies Howard had his first success in 1973 as an actor in the role of "Steve Boll Ander " in George Lucas ' cult film American Graffiti. He then played for years on the hit sitcom Happy Days. In between, he had a supporting role in 1976 in the Western The Shootist, which was the last film with the legendary U.S. actor John Wayne at the same time.

His career as a director began in 1977 with work on the low-budget film Grand Theft Auto. He then worked for several years as a director in television series. Beginning of the 1980s, Howard managed the breakthrough in Hollywood and led since directed many acclaimed productions. In 1986 he founded together with film producer Brian Grazer production company Imagine Entertainment, with which he produced his films from now on. Audience successes and film technology feats like Splash, Willow and Backdraft established his current reputation as a great Hollywood director.
