Russell Martin (footballer)
Russell Kenneth Alexander Martin ( born January 4, 1986 in Brighton ) is a born in England of Scottish football player who is under contract with the English first division club Norwich City since 2010.
Playing career
Wycombe Wanderers (2004-2008)
A native of the youth of his home club Brighton & Hove Albion Russell Martin moved to an intermediate station at amateur club FC Lewes on 1 July 2004 on the fourth division Wycombe Wanderers. After seven league inserts in his first season in 2004 / 05, he won the next three seasons a regular place in defense. In the Football League Two 2007/ 08 reached Martin (44 league games) with his team on the seventh place in the table a place in the play-offs. There, however, the Wanderers have failed already in the first round at Stockport County ( 1:1 and 0:1).
Peterborough United (2008-2010)
On 29 May 2008 the 22 -year-old defender moved to Peterborough United and signed a three -year contract. His new club had risen in the previous season as runner-up in the third division and thus started the 2008/ 09 in the Football League One. During the first round Martin was appointed coach Darren Ferguson to the team captain. Norwich City (2010 -)
At the end of the loan period Norwich Russell Martin undertook at its twenty-fourth birthday on a fixed contract basis. The coached by Paul Lambert team won at the end of the season 2009/10 the championship in the third division. Also in the Football League Championship 2010/11 the Movers got along well and reached for the runner behind Queens Park Rangers promotion to the Premier League. Russell Martin scored five goals in forty-six league games.
Scottish national
In May 2011, the son of a Scots Craig Levein has been nominated for the Scottish national team. On 25 May 2011 he played in the 1-1 draw in a friendly against Wales its first international match.
