Salair (town)

Wages (Russian Салаир ) is a small town in Kemerovo Oblast (Russia) with 8262 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located in the west of the central part of the Kuzbass and on the eastern flank of the Salairrückens, about 200 km southwest of the Oblasthauptstadt Kemerovo and 40 km south-west of the river Belovo Maly Batschat. The climate is continental.

The city of wages is administratively subordinate to the city Guryevsk.

Wages is a railway line ( freight only ) with Guryevsk and Belovo at the track Jurga (or Novosibirsk ) - Novokuznetsk connected.

History

1626 the village Salairskoje ( Салаирское, also Салаирка / Salairka ) was founded. End of the 18th century were uncovered silver ore, its degradation began in the 1780s. As a result, one marked by the mining settlement arose. 1941 was the place under the present name of a town.
