Yaya, Russia

Jaja (Russian Яя ) is an urban-type settlement in Kemerovo Oblast (Russia) with 11,688 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The settlement is situated on the northern edge of the foothills of Kuznetsk Alatau about 100 kilometers (direct distance ) north of the river of the same Kemerovo Oblasthauptstadt Jaja, a tributary of the Chulym.

Jaja is the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons Jaja ( Jaiski ).

History

Its history begins in the late 19th century with the construction of the Trans -Siberian Railway. When crossing the river Jaja by the railway line below the confluence of the right tributary Solotoi Kitat ( "Golden Kitat " ) was a station with associated settlement called Scharkowka, named after the first settlers and prospectors in the area Zharkov; as a foundation year is 1897.

Economy and infrastructure

In Jaja, there are companies in the forestry and construction industry and the food industry. The settlement is surrounded by an agricultural area.

Jaja is located on the Trans-Siberian Railway ( Route 3624 km from Moscow). Due to the settlement of the regional road Kemerovo via Anzhero Sudschensk for regional road R400 Tomsk Marinsk that passes about 20 kilometers northeast of Jaja. In the southeast there are connections to the highway M53.
