Samuel PÃ¥hlsson

Samuel Påhlsson ( born December 17, 1977 in Ånge ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player. Since June 2012, he plays in the Svenska Hockey ligands for MoDo Hockey Örnsköldsvik on the position of the center.

Career

Påhlsson began his professional career with the MoDo Hockeyklubb in Sweden. NHL Entry Draft 1996, he was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in place 176. However, he was transferred immediately with Brian Rolston, Martin Grenier and a first-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft in 2000 to the Boston Bruins. After 17 games for the Bruins Samuel Påhlsson was issued in November of the same year in exchange for Andrei Nazarov and Patrick Traverse to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

During the lockout of 2004/ 05 Påhlsson played in his home at Frölunda HC. There, he won the Swedish championship and was elected to the All- Star team in the league. In the season 2006/ 07 Påhlsson won with the Anaheim Ducks to the Stanley Cup.

Påhlsson and his two wingers Travis Moen and Rob Niedermayer, had large share of the profits of the Cup for the California franchise. In recognition of his season and playoff performances Samuel Påhlsson was nominated for the Selke Trophy Frank J. of the 2006/07 season. This trophy is awarded annually to the defensive strongest striker.

Samuel Påhlsson plays in the Swedish national team and won among others the gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games 2006.
