History
Schnaitsee 924 is first mentioned in the " Codex Odalbert ". The local government reform Schnaitsee was increased on 1 January 1978 at the territory of the formerly independent communities Kirchstätt and Waldhausen.

Nature
- Schnaitsee possible by its high location in the Upper Bavarian Alps on the south slope in good weather a superb panoramic view over the Alpine foothills to the Chiemsee and the East Bavarian Alps. Since the summer of 2007, there is a viewing tower next to the TV tower in Garting.
- The Weitsee, referred to by locals as Schnaitseer lake, is located south of the village at the foot of the slope. The fish-rich Weitsee is the largest lake in located in a conservation area Schnaitseer Lakeland, which consists of several bog lakes, and serves as an idyllic bathing opportunity.
