Schönburg (Saale)

Schoenburg is a municipality in Burgenland district, in Saxony -Anhalt ( Germany ). The community belongs to the municipality Wethautal.

Geography

Schoenburg is about 5 km east of Naumburg and about 9 km west of Weissenfels an der Saale.

Community structure

As a part of the community Poss grove ( incorporated on 1 July 1950) reported, further includes the splitter settlements Weichau and Kroppental to Schoenburg.

History

On the castle censure ( site of an abandoned, missing castle ) at Schoenburg could be documented by the Friedrich -Schiller- University Jena archaeologically a pit and a ditch. The dating of the pit via the ceramic into the Iron Age. The trench can be dated on the ceramics found therein into the Middle Ages. In a further excavation in the art mountain in Schoenburg 2006, two were in the aerial image recognized trenches cut. In the upper grave backfilling and some findings there was this Iron Age pottery, in some findings also late Bronze Age finds.

The beautiful castle was first mentioned in 1137. Essentially built from 1175 to 1250, it should have been founded by a legend by Ludwig the Springer.

  • The most striking building in beautiful castle is the castle of the same Schoenburg.
  • Well of Moses: The source of the Moses fountain gushing from the rock in the Barrel of the Baroque fountains exchange. A stone in the crown of the circular arc shows the year 1626 and a modest representation of the source of miracles Moses.

Music

In the region around Nice castle and a few beyond known are the traditional " Schönburger Blasmusikanten " and the younger ensemble " The castle musicians from Schoenburg ". On the Castle Schoenburg takes place every year the music festival " Schönburger autumn " instead.

Sport / Tourism

In Schoenburg there is a canoe station, which is run by the local canoe club.

The Saale Cycle Path runs through the town.

Regular events

Every two years, will take place the Schoenburg festivals. Furthermore, take place at the castle regularly jousting as well as concerts.

Traffic

At the federal highway 180, which runs south of the town of Naumburg ( Saale) by Zeitz, is about 2 km.

The Öblitzschleuse between Schoenburg and Leißling is the top Saale lock.
