Scott Fankhouser

Scott Fankhouser ( born July 1, 1975 in Bismarck, North Dakota ) is a retired American professional ice hockey goaltender, who was active during his active career, among other things, for the Atlanta Thrashers of the National Hockey League. Most recently, he was assistant coach of the Cincinnati Cyclones.

Career

Fankhouser began his career in the National Collegiate Athletic Association, however, was used there in his first three years, mainly as a backup goalkeeper. Only last year, he came to more missions and was about the same time drafted by the St. Louis Blues.

Fankhouser completed after his college years first inserts for Greenville Grrrowl in the East Coast Hockey League, but also played for teams in other minor leagues and finally got also inserts at the Atlanta Thrashers of the National Hockey League. In the following years, he moved several times each season the team before he first came in 2003 to Europe aground for the SC Bietigheim- Bissingen in the second highest German league. After only one year, he returned to the States and completed a good season for Toledo Storm in the ECHL. In the summer of 2005, including the Austrian first division side EC Graz 99ers became aware of him and signed him for a season, where he however also due to a very weak team performance was not convincing. The following year he moved to the Vienna Capitals, where he, however, did not meet the expectations. After a year at Manchester Phoenix in the English Elite Ice Hockey League, he returned again to the U.S. and was in the 2008/ 09 season in Bloomington PrairieThunder in the International Hockey League contract.

At season's end, he ended his active career, and took over in the next two seasons under head coach Jarrod Skald the position of assistant coach at Bloomington PrairieThunder. After his departure to the Cincinnati Cyclones Fankhouser followed him in August 2010 and took over there as well the function of assistant coach. For the season 2011/12 the Americans was replaced by Andrew Cassels.
