Serednie

Serednye (Ukrainian Середнє; Russian Среднее / Sredneje, Slovak Seredne or Seredňovo, Hungarian Szerednye ) is an urban-type settlement in the Western Ukraine ( Transcarpathian Oblast, Uzhhorod Raion ) is about 20 kilometers southeast of the city of Uzhhorod.

The approximately 3500 inhabitants village lies at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains in the Transcarpathian lowland near the river Wiolla ( Віолла ).

History

The town was first mentioned in writing in 1417 as Zerednye. 1502 was born in the village of Dobo Istvan. 1910, of the Kingdom of Hungary which is in the county Ung place 1,867 inhabitants, of whom 881 were Hungarians, Ruthenians, 642, 193 German and 134 Slovaks. After the end of World War 1 he came to the newly created Czechoslovakia (as part of the Carpathian Ukraine) and was ceded to the end of the second world war to the USSR. In 1971, the place obtained the status of an urban-type settlement.

The municipality also includes the south west location Wowkowe known are mainly the ruins of the castle Serednye.
