Sop Moei District

Amphoe Sop Moei ( in Thai อำเภอ สบ เมย ) the southernmost district ( Amphoe - Administrative District) is the province of Mae Hong Son The Mae Hong Son province is located in the northern region of Thailand.

Geography

Neighbouring districts (from the south clockwise): Amphoe Tha Song Yang in Tak province, the Kayin State of Myanmar, Amphoe Mae Sariang in Mae Hong Son province, as well as Amphoe Hot and Omkoi in the province of Chiang Mai.

Important rivers of the district are the Salween (also: Salween, Thai: Maenam Salawin, แม่น้ำ สาละ วิน ), the Maenam moei ( moei River ), the Ngao ( Ngao River ) and Maenam Yuam ( Yuam River ).

The Mae Ngao National Park is located in the district Sop moei.

History

Sop moei was 1 April 1984 initially as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established by the Tambon Sop Moei Mae Khatuan and Amphoe Mae Sariang from Koi Kong were separated. It was upgraded to a full district on November 3 1993.

Management

Amphoe Khun Yuam is ( tambon) divided into six municipalities that continue in 58 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

In addition, there are six " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
