Paul Stanley "Stan" Jones (* November 24, 1931 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, † 21 May, 2010 Broomfield, Colorado) was an US- American football player and coach. He played in the National Football League ( NFL) for the Chicago Bears and the Washington Redskins on the offensive and the defensive line.

Youth

Stan Jones was born in Altoona, but he grew up in Harrisburg. His father Paul Jones worked at a telephone company. From 1945 he attended the high school where he played football, but also drew attention to himself as a track and field athlete. After finishing school in 1949 he received a scholarship to the University of Maryland.

Playing career

College career

Stan Jones studied from 1950 to 1953 at the University of Maryland. He played college football for the local team, the Maryland Terrapins, as tackle, both on the offensive line, and the defensive line. In 1951 his team won all ten games. So she took first place in the Southern Conference, and took third place in the national college championship. On January 1, 1952 Jones played with his team in the Sugar Bowl against the University of Tennessee, which took first place in the national college championship with their team. The Terrapins were able to win the game with 28:13. The following year, she finally won the championship in the Atlantic Coast Conference and has been appointed as national champions. This year, the Terrapins had also qualified for the Orange Bowl. The game against the University of Oklahoma was lost 7-0.

1953 was also personally a successful year for Stan Jones. He was elected this year for the All-American, won the Knute Rockne Award and also took part in the college all-star game against the Detroit Lions part. Professional career

In 1953, Stan Jones of the supervised by George Halas Chicago Bears was drafted in the fifth round to 54th place. Stanley Jones played seven times in the Pro Bowl six times and was voted All- Pro. He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the College Football Hall of Fame, the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame and in the University of Maryland Athletic Hall of Fame. The Chicago Bears honor him in their Hall of Fame and the Chicago Bears Ring of Honor
