Sten Stensen

Sten Einar Stensen ( born December 18, 1947 in Drammen ) is a former Norwegian speed skater.

Stensen was founded in 1974 in Inzell around World Champion. 1973 and 1976 he won the silver medal in the all-around world championships and 1977 the bronze medal. He also won during the 1975 all-around European Championship.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1976, he became Olympic champion in the 5000 meter and won over 10000 meters silver medal. Four years earlier at the Olympic Winter Games Sapporo in 1972 he had already won over these distances bronze.

Stensen improved in 1976 twice the world record in the 10,000 meters. In 1974 he won the gold medal Morgenbladet, 1976 Fearnleys olympiske ærespris. 1974 and 1976 he was also awarded the Oscar Mathisen Memorial Trophy.

After the end of his career as a speed skater in 1978, he was a commentator of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation in speed skating competitions.
