Stéphane Robidas

Stéphane Robidas ( born March 3, 1977 in Sherbrooke, Quebec ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He was pulled in the NHL Entry Draft in 1995 by the Montreal Canadiens in the seventh round at 164th place. He currently plays as a defender at the Anaheim Ducks in the NHL.

Career

Robidas laid the foundation for a career in the sport of ice hockey when he played for three years in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Finally he was able to gain a foothold in the AHL farm team of the Montreal Canadians. After three seasons, he was in 2000/ 01 rising to the team of Canadians and was able to record six goals and six assists in 65 games. 2001/ 02 put him the Canadians for lack of alternatives on the left -back position, which Robidas as a right-handed shooter had severe problems and was able to record only one goal this season. Robidas was abandoned before the 2002/03 season the Waiver Draft, in which the Atlanta Thrashers the rights secured to him, but immediately passed on this to the Dallas Stars. In Dallas, he scored three goals and seven assists and also still played in the play- offs. After only 14 games the following season, the Stars traded him to the Chicago Blackhawks. During the lockout season of 2004/ 05 Robidas moved to the Frankfurt Lions in the DEL. There he reached 15 goals and 32 assists in the regular season and a goal and two assists during the playoffs, until the Lions were eliminated against the Adler Mannheim in the semifinals. With the Lions Robidas also took part in the European Champions Cup. Robidas joined as a free agent once again to the Dallas Stars. In December 2006, his contract was extended at the stars for a further three years. The contract brought Robidas a total of 4.5 million dollars.

In March 2014 he was transferred to the Anaheim Ducks.

Internationally

Robidas represented Canada during the Ice Hockey World Championship for Men in 2001 and 2006. During the latter he could score a goal.
