Stephen Dixon (ice hockey)

Stephen Dixon ( born September 7, 1985 in Halifax, Nova Scotia ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since January 2013 to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career

Stephen Dixon began his career as a hockey player with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, for which he was active from 2001 to 2005 in the Canadian Junior Football League QMJHL. During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in the seventh round in 2003 when a total of 229 players from the Pittsburgh Penguins, for which, however, he never played. Instead, the center from 2005 to 2007 ran for Pittsburgh's farm team, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League on. However, since he at Pittsburgh was no use in the National Hockey League, he was discharged from his team on June 23, 2007 in exchange for Tim Brent to the Anaheim Ducks. There, too, he could not prevail, so that it for their AHL farm team Portland Pirates stand on the ice during the entire 2007/08 season.

In summer 2008, Dixon was the first time to Europe, where he received a contract with Brynäs IF of the Swedish Elitserien. He immediately became a regular player and in his second year assistant captain. He was then committed for the 2010/11 season by the Russian club Amur Khabarovsk of the Kontinental Hockey League.

From August 2011, he stood at the Ässät Pori under contract before leaving your club in January 2013 and was engaged by Lokomotiv Yaroslavl until season's end.

Internationally

For Canada Dixon took part in the U18 World Youth Championship in 2003, as well as the U20 Junior Weltmesiterschaften 2004 and 2005 in part. In all three tournaments he won with his country medals ( 2x gold, 1 silver ). In 19 games at the Junior World Championships, the Canadian scored three goals and had five assists.
