Stephen Murphy (ice hockey)
Stephen James Murphy ( born December 11, 1981 in Dundee, Scotland ) is a British professional ice hockey goaltender who stands since 2009 when the Belfast Giants in the Elite Ice Hockey League contract. His cousin Colin Shields is also a professional hockey player.

Career
Stephen Murphy began his career as a hockey player in the British Hockey League, where he was active for the Paisley Pirates, Fife Flyers, Dundee Stars and Bracknell Bees 1997-2004. For the season 2004 /05, the goalkeeper moved to Bracke IK from the Division 1, the third Swedish league. In parallel, he also came to five appearances for IF Björklöven from the second-rate Allsvenskan. He spent the following season in the Swedish second division club IFK Arboga. For the season 2006/ 07 the national team returned to his British homeland and the Edinburgh Capitals joined from the Elite Ice Hockey League. In the 2007 /08 season he stood for Stjernen in the Norwegian GET - ligaen between the posts. The 2008/09 season spent Murphy at the Manchester Phoenix of the EIHL. Since then, he plays for their league rivals Belfast Giants, with whom he won the 2012 championship title of the EIHL.
Internationally
For the UK, Murphy took part in the junior level at the U18 Junior B World Cup 1999 and the U20 Junior C World Championships in 2000 and 2001. In the senior level, he stood in his country's squad for the B- 2001 World Championships, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
