Steve Hooker (* July 16, 1982 in Melbourne, actually Steven Hooker ) is an Australian pole vaulter.

His first major international success had Steve Hooker at the Junior World Championships in 2000, where he finished fourth in the pole vault. At the 2004 Olympic Games and at the 2005 World Championships he did not come both times beyond the qualification.

His first title he won at the Commonwealth Games 2006 with skipped 5.80 m. At the 2007 World Championships Hooker finished with 5.76 m in ninth place. 2008 Hooker came during the Australian summer season in Europe at Halle competitions. At the World Indoor Championships in Valencia in 2008 he won the bronze medal with 5.80 meters. His biggest success was the victory at the Olympic Games in the same year with 5.96 m, which, Olympic record meant up to the Games in London in 2012, where Renaud Lavillenie crossed 5.97 m. He himself went blank from London. In the final Hooker jumped a valid attempt.

His position as in his heyday world's best pole vaulter set the Australians at the World Championships in 2009 abilities when he secured the world title with skipped 5.90 m. He came because of an injury to the adductor muscles in the finals at all only twice to jump to.

His personal best achieved Steve Hooker at a track and field meet in Boston with 6.06 m in February 2009. Hookers best performance in the 100 meters is 10.82 s, he ran it in Perth 2010.

At a height of 1.88 m his competition weight is 85 kg.
