Stone Sour

Stone Sour (named after a cocktail of whiskey and a splash of orange juice) is an American alternative metal band.

Band History

The beginnings and Stone Sour (1992-2005)

The band, lead singer of American nu-metal band Slipknot founded in 1992 by Corey Taylor, and was, after some demo recordings in the years 1992-1997, decommissioned. In 2002, then approached Josh edge with some songs to Corey Taylor, whereupon the two began to write the next 18 months new songs to revive the project " Stone Sour ". The band was called together again and published ten years after the founding of their debut album Stone Sour. The songs Get Inside and Inhale were in 2003 and 2004 respectively nominated for a Grammy Award in the category Best Metal performance.

Come What ( ever) May (2006-2008)

In March 2006, drummer Joel Ekman then separated from the band, and was succeeded by Roy Mayorga, the former drummer of Soulfly was. The reasons for drop out were Ekmans that when his son was diagnosed with a glioma and he stand by this wollte.Am July 28, 2006 released their new album Come What ( ever) May, which by the German heavy metal magazine Rock Hard and Metal Hammer were each nominated for " album of the Month ". Metal Hammer has named Come What ( ever) May looking back on 2006 as the "Album of the Year". Album opener 30/30-150 was nominated again in 2007 for a Grammy for Best Metal performance. In the end, however, the song was beaten Slayer Eyes of the Insane.

Audio Secrecy (2009-2011)

In summer 2009, a count-up was released on the official website of the band. December 1, 2009 Corey Taylor announced in an interview that the new album will be produced from February 2010 by Rob Cavallo. However, further details he was not known. With the move into the studio Stone Sour opened an official Twitter profile over which the making of the new album can be tracked. On 12 January 2010 was followed by a press release, the band will with Nick Raskulinecz their third album Blackbird Studio in Nashville aufnehmen.Raskulinecz the previous album, Come What ( ever) May had already been produced. On 5 and 6 June, the band played at "Rock am Ring" and " Rock im Park" announced that the third album will be released on September 7, 2010. In fact, Audio Secrecy in Germany already appeared on 3 September on Roadrunner Records.

House of Gold and Bones ( from 2012)

On 20 March 2012, the work on a new album began. Frontman Taylor described the style of the album as a mixture of Pink Floyd's album The Wall and Alice in Chains ' album Dirt. Shortly thereafter, it was announced that the longtime bassist Shawn Economaki would leave the band. The album was recorded by Rachel Bolan, who has worked as a bassist of Skid Row and helped out the band in the studio. On June 11, also Corey Taylor announced on his Twitter profile that the new album would bear the name of House of Gold & Bones. As for the album 24 songs were recorded, the album will consist of two parts, each with 12 songs. The first part was published on 19 October, 2012. House of Gold & Bones - Part 2 was released on April 5, 2013.

As of January 2014, the band with Christian Martucci (including Dee Dee Ramone and Corey Taylor's solo band ) is going on tour, as Jim Root will fully concentrate on work the next Slipknot album. It is, therefore, suspend the next concert dates.

Style

Stone Sour play by its own account " melodic hard rock with content and initiative ." As musical influences The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Metallica and Alice in Chains are called. On the albums, there are both melodic ballads as well as embossed metal riffs typical songs. All types Corey Taylor's vocals, for which he has been known for Slipknot, are used by melodic clean vocals and growls up to Screamen.
