Stone Fort is a municipality ( with a status of "Village" ) in Saline and Williamson County in the south of the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, Stone Fort had 297 inhabitants.

Geography

Stone Fort is located on the northwestern edge of the Shawnee National Forest at 37 ° 36'51 " north latitude and 88 ° 42'29 " west longitude and extending 3.78 km ². The municipal area extends over the Stone Fort Township of Saline County and the Stone Fort Precinct of Williamson County.

The Saline River flows approximately one kilometer north past Sonefort.
