Stripsenjochhaus

The Stripsenjochhaus is a mountain hut of the section Kufstein in the Austrian Alpine Association in the Kaiser mountains in Tyrol.

Location

The house is located on Stripsenjoch, the transition from Kaiserbachtal to Kaisertal as well as the intersection of tame and Wilder Kaiser. Thus, the Stripsenjochhaus is very centrally located and is often referred to as the hub of the Kaiser Mountains.

History

The house goes back on plans from 1899 and was built from 1901 to 1902 from the AV section Kufstein. The house was inaugurated in early summer 1902. First tenants was to 1925 Johann Tavonaro, who set the then record with two hundred ascents of Totenkirchl until 1910, and together with Philip Scheiner also on June 30, 1895 was the first man to climb sermon chair. In the 1950s and 1960s, the house was rebuilt several times, renovated and expanded. During this time, the supply cable car was built by the Griesner Alm. 2000 the house was damaged in a fire room and redeveloped in the following year. The Stripsenjochhaus is now cultivated as early as the second generation of the family Fankhauser from Ginzling in the Zillertal.

  • By car, take the toll road from Griesenau to Griesener Alm ( 990 m).

  • Walchsee about the Gwirchtalm, mountain pasture or Feldalm in 4 hours.
