Sue Gossick

Susan Gossick ( born November 12, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois) is a former American Water Diving. She participated in two Olympic Games, winning a gold medal.

Career

Susan Gossick learned the water jump at her high school in California. She was in Tokyo at the Summer Olympics in 1964. There she finished in fourth place behind the German Ingrid Kramer and her two compatriots Jeanne Collier and Mary Willard from the three- meter board. 1967 Gossick won the gold medal from the three- meter board at the Pan American Games. A year later, Susan Gossick won the gold medal from the springboard before Tamara Pogoschewa from the Soviet Union and the American Keala O'Sullivan at the Olympic Summer Games 1968 in Mexico City. The Olympic victory was surprising after Gossick could only qualify as third parties for the Olympic Games in the Trials. In addition, she won three titles in her career the Amateur Athletic Union.
