Sulz, Lucerne

Sulz is a village in the Official high village of the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland. Until December 31, 2008 Sulz was a municipality. As of January 1, 2009, municipalities Hitzkirch, Gelfingen, Hämikon, Mosen, Müswangen, Retschwil and Sulz merged to form the new municipality Hitzkirch.

Geography

The village is situated on the western slope of the Lindenberg on the Baldeggersee. The parish boundary follows the Schliessbach up to its origin at Homestead Grossfeld. From there it goes into eastern direction until you come to Sulzer forest whose eastern border is the municipal and cantonal border simultaneously. In the Sulzer Forest lies 862 m above sea level also the highest point of the municipality. The there southward current cantonal border forms the eastern border of the town. The source of this conceit Bach turns off to the west and follows the creek to Chapf. From this point on the municipal boundary to the northwest goes back to Schliessbach.

The place consists of the village of Sulz, Sulzmatt (618 m asl; west of the village ), the Sulzer mountain ( 812 m) above area and farmsteads.

Apart from the large Sulzer forest are only small areas along the wooded streams - a total of 29.5% of the municipal area. The majority of the area - namely 64.9 % - is used for agriculture. Bloss 5.7% is urbanized area.

Adjacent communities were Gelfingen, Hämikon, Hitzkirch, High Rain and Müswangen in the canton of Lucerne and Beinwil ( Freiamt) in the canton of Aargau.

Population

Demographics

The village lost 1860-1880 by emigration numerous inhabitants ( 1860-1880: -35.5 %). The bottom reached the population in 1888 with only 135 inhabitants. After that, the population increased - with strong variations in between - to 1920 again considerably ( from 1888 to 1920: 44.5 %). In the 1920s, followed by a renewed decline in population - and then a several decades comprehensive slight growth. in the 1960s it came again to a migration movement ( 1960 to 1970: -18.6 %). From 1970 to 2000 the number of inhabitants stagnated at a low level. Since a few years, is again a growth determine (2000-2004: 17.2 %).

Languages

The population used as slang a high- Alemannic dialect. At the last census in 2000 gave 99.36 % German and 0.64 % French as the main language.

Religions - faiths

Previously, all the inhabitants were members of the Roman Catholic Church. By leaving the church and immigration from other regions in Switzerland and abroad, this has changed. Today ( as of 2000) provides for the religious composition of the population as follows: There are 84.08 % and 11.46 % Roman Catholic Evangelical Protestant Christians. In addition, 1.91% non-religious.

Origin - Nationality

Of the 179 residents in late 2006 were 174 Swiss and 5 ( = 2.8%) foreigners. At the last census was 98.09 % ( 99.36 % including dual citizens ) Swiss nationals. The two dual citizens are from Italy and the United Kingdom. The only (! ) ( Only ) foreigners from Germany.

Traffic

Sulz was integrated into the network of public transport by bus Hitzkirch - Gelfingen - Kleinwangen by the end of 2011. Both Hitzkirch as Gelfingen who stops the train line Luzern- Lenzburg ( Seetalbahn ).

The village lies on a road along the western slope of the Lindenberg. These branches off from the main road in Ballwil Luzern- Lenzburg and empties into Hitzkirch back into just this. The nearest motorway connections are Sempach on the A2 in 19 miles and Gisikon off the A14, 20 km away.

History

It is first mentioned Sulz in 1266, the sister convent Oetenbach gives a knight Conrad of Heidegg in Zurich goods in Sulz. The church was under the rule of the Habsburgs until 1415. In that year the city of Lucerne conquered the area. It belonged until 1803 to the outdoor offices as part of the rule Heidegg. Since then, it belongs to the high office village.
