Svetlograd
Swetlograd (Russian Светлоград ) is a city in Russia with a population of 38,520 (as of October 14, 2010 ). It is located in the Caucasus foothills in the Stavropol region ( Federal District Southern Federal District ), approximately 85 kilometers northeast of Stavropol, situated on the river Kalaus.
History
The town was founded in 1750 as a village by the name Petrowskoje ( Петровское ). In 1965 he received the city status and its present name, which has no historical origin and means only as much as bright city. The Rajon Petrowskoje whose administrative center is Swetlograd, but still retains its original name.

Economy and Transport
Area Swetlograds is dominated by agriculture. In the city there are few industrial enterprises; including several textile and food factories and a factory for building materials.
The town has a station on the railway line Stavropol Budjonnowsk, there is also a direct rail route from Swetlograd to Elista. Both routes are operated by the North Caucasian railway company.
