Geography
Geographical location
Tauplitz located in Hinterberger valley in the Styrian Salzkammergut. The Tauplitzalm is accessible from the town center Tauplitzer by chairlift, from the neighboring town of Bad Mitterndorf it is accessed by a road. In the town are the largest natural ski jump in the world, Kulm, and the Tauplitzalm ski area. On the high plateau of the Tauplitzalm Tauplitz are the six lakes ( Steirersee, Schwarzensee, Großsee, Krallersee, Märchensee and Tauplitzsee ).

The municipality comprises the cadastral Klachau and Tauplitz.
Incorporations
As part of the Styrian community structure reform the church Tauplitz will be (at least until 2015) with the two other regional communities Hinterberger Valley, Bad Mitterndorf and Pichl- Kainisch fused.
Neighboring communities
History
The name of the community can be derived from different spellings and means something like "Warm Place ". Tauplitz to have been built according to the traditions of a warm natural source. The source, however, was later buried by a landslide.

- Parish Church of the Holy Cross, built in the late 18th century, after the separation of the parish from the parish Pürgg.
- So-called Zinner villa, smaller hunting lodge in Klachau, built by the Knights of Adalbert Zinner.
- Old farms ( Ennstaler heap yards ) with timbered barns.
Sports
- The municipality is the largest natural ski jump in the world, the Kulm.
- Formerly longest chairlift in the world to the Tauplitzalm.

The place offers winter and summer sports facilities. The Tauplitzalm is expanded as hiking and skiing.

The award of the municipality coat of arms came into effect on 1 February 2000. Blazon (Coat of Arms description). " In a silver shield the completion of an outwardly facing three red rhododendron blue oblique right bar, in a three-tiered silver beam, this bewinkelt of six silver snow crystals "
