Télévision Suisse Romande

Télévision Suisse Romande (TSR ) was the public television for French-speaking audiences in the so-called Welsch Switzerland was founded in 1953. As at 29 February 2012, the Télévision Suisse Romande went on in the new Radio Télévision Suisse, together with the Radio Suisse Romande. To this end, the programs have been renamed accordingly: From TSR 1 RTS was Un, and TSR 2 was RTS Deux.

The seat of TSR and the successor institution RTS is located in a 17-story skyscraper in Geneva. The transmitter spreads its program across the channels and RTS 1 RTS 2 TSR belongs to the group SRG SSR idée suisse.

Editorial offices maintains the transmitter next to Geneva in Lausanne, Sion, Moutier, Fribourg and Neuchâtel.

In addition to the far -reaching to eastern France terrestrial broadcasting ( more recently, digital DVB- T) and cable distribution in the whole of Switzerland, the transmitter is also encrypted over the satellite Hot Bird 3 and receivable excerpts on the internet since 2002. Furthermore, RTS 1 and RTS 2 in Switzerland ( with Swiss IP address) to receive via Zattoo.

TSR went on the air in 1954. In 1984, the station participated along with France Télévisions the structure of the international francophone channel TV5.
