TV5 Monde

TV5 Monde (until 2006 TV5 ) is an international French-language television channel, which is broadcast on satellite and cable world. It is supported by public service broadcasters of the four French-speaking countries France, Belgium, Switzerland and Canada. It corresponds to concept after about the German TV channel 3sat. Formation

According to plans by Nicolas Sarkozy to revise the public media, the transmitter should be merged with France24, and bear the name of France Monde. Meanwhile, the other parties to TV5 transmitter turned, however, against the prevailing role of France and against a name that takes a too strong with respect to France.

Program versions

TV5 broadcasts its program worldwide in eight different versions and has adapted its program schedule to the respective time zones.

TV5 Québec / Canada identifies itself on the screen only as TV5, TV5 France / Belgique / Suisse formerly TV5MONDE just as, in the meantime, the region identifier appears as the other six versions side TV5MONDE in the logo.
