The Bootleg Series Volumes 1–3 (Rare & Unreleased) 1961–1991
The Bootleg Series Volumes 1-3 is a CD compilation of Bob Dylan. The collection is recorded in Columbia Records catalog under number C3K 86572. This is the first collection of the series "the Dylan bootleg series". The collection includes material of the first three decades of Dylan's career from 1961 until 1989. The collection was awarded a gold record by the RIAA in August 1997, and reached number 49 on the Billboard 200 and number 32 on the charts in the UK.

Content
Of the total 58 tracks are 46 outtakes from previous studio recordings. The remaining tracks are, with one exception live recordings and demo recordings. Three of them were later on The Bootleg Series Vol 9 - The Witmark Demos: 1962-1964 duplicated.
The collection was released in 1991 to the very widespread desire for Dylan's unpublished materials to satisfy. The collection contains rare and unpublished works from recording sessions of Dylan's debut from 1962 to 1989 and the album Oh Mercy. Unlike other bootleg editions are The Bootleg Series Volumes 1-3 only together as a three CD collection erhätlch.
