The Wharf (Holdings)
The Wharf (Holdings ) Limited (Chinese九龙 仓 集团/九龙 仓 集团, Pinyin jiǔlóng Cang Jituan ) or short The Wharf is a conglomerate in China with its headquarters in Hong Kong. It is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange ( HKSE ) and included in the stock index Hang Seng Index.
History
The Wharf was founded in 1886 in Hong Kong, at the initiative of Sir Paul Chater Catchick and Jardine Matheson under the name of The Hong Kong and Kowloon Wharf and Godown Company, Limited. Dominated by Jardine Matheson, the Company operated a long time shipyards and warehouses in the port of Hong Kong.
