Thésy

Thésy is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Thésy lies 695 m above sea level. M., southeast of Salins- les -Bains, 19 km north of the city Champagnole (air line). The farming village extends in the Jura, on the first Jura plateau, east of the Erosionstals Furieuse.

The area of ​​4.92 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The entire area occupied by the plateau of the Jura plateau, the average altitude of 700 meters. M. is and is passed partly of arable and meadow land, partly by forest. The plateau has no above-ground rivers, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. With 718 m above sea level. History

Is first mentioned in the 12th century Thésy. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the reign of Châtelguyon. Together with the Franche -Comté Thésy came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Population

With 65 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Thésy one of the smallest towns in the Jura. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 157 people were still counted ), only relatively small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Thésy was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture and forestry village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some of the working population commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road, leading from Salins- les- Bains to Supt. Further road links exist with Abergement- lès- Thésy, Lemuy and Aresches.
