Thung Saliam District

Amphoe Thung Saliam ( Thai: อำเภอ ทุ่งเสลี่ยม ) is a district ( Amphoe ) of the province ( Changwat ) Sukhothai in Northern Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Si the Satchanalai, Sawankhalok, Si Samrong and Ban Dan Lan Hoi province of Sukhothai, and Thoen of Lampang Province.

History

Thung Saliam was built in 1957 as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established by the two Tambon Thung Saliam and Klang Dong were separated from Amphoe Sawankhalok. Two years later received the full Amphoe Thung Saliam status.

Attractions

Wat Thung Saliam ( Thai: วัด ทุ่งเสลี่ยม ) - Buddhist temple ( Wat ) in Tambon Thung Saliam with a famous Buddha statue made ​​of gray sandstone, " Luang Po Si La " called ( Thai: หลวง พ่อ ศิลา, literally about: Honorable monk stone ). Statues of this type are in Thailand, " Pang Nak Prok " ( Thai: ปาง นาคปรก ) called: protected by the Naga.   • Khao Kaeo Si Sombun ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เขา แก้ว ศรี สมบูรณ์ ) consists of the whole Tambon Khao Kaeo Si Sombun.
