Torrox

Torrox is a small town in the province of Málaga in Andalusia, Spain. The city consists of the villages of Torrox Pueblo in the Axarquia, the eastern part of the Costa del Sol, Torrox -Costa.

Due to the strong construction activity, the two districts are growing ever closer together.

Torrox Pueblo, the main town, which is about four kilometers from the coast, is a typical Andalusian village, with narrow, winding streets and whitewashed houses and a Moorish past, which can be seen at the old city walls and defense towers still.

Torrox -Costa was, however, once a Roman manufacturing and trading town, which extended the original Arab city and know how to bear witness to their past ancient ruins of thermal baths, a luxurious villa and a necropolis. Today you will find here the longest beach promenade of the Costa del Sol with numerous tourist facilities.

On the east side of Torrox -Costa is a fully automatic working lighthouse (Faro de Torrox ), which was completed on May 1, 1864, and 26 m high ( 39 m above sea level).
