Trolleybuses in Geneva

The trolleybus trolleybus Lausanne Geneva is after the second- largest in Switzerland trolleybus system. It was opened on 11 September 1942 and supplemented since 1862 opened tram Geneva. Current fleet

The trolleybus fleet of TPG today consists of 79 joints and eleven double- articulated cars, the latter coming on the line 10 for use.

The maverick 721 originated in the fall of 2003 by adding a third car part from the 1993 cars built 709 of the type Swisstrolley ( BGT -N). He was the first Swiss Doppelgelenktrolleybus and served as the prototype for the series cars of the type lighTram 3 ( BGGT - N2C ).

The VanHool Exqui.City are 18 meters long articulated trolleybuses of the Belgian manufacturer Van Hool. There were 33 pieces ordered to the old GT 560/620-25 and BGT to replace 5-25 and have a 100 % low floor Trolleybusfuhrpark as the end of 2014. In a vehicle 127 passengers find space, of which 41 seats are. As an auxiliary propulsion batteries are used, which have a range of 7-14 km. The 33 vehicles have cost 29.42 million Swiss francs. The first bus was on 21 January 2014 on the line 3, in operation.

Former fleet

The following series of vehicles have now been retired:

The scrapped cars 602-605, 607, 609, 611-613, 615-618, 621, 643 and 644 were discharged early 1990s to Chile. Some are located in the Valparaíso trolleybus still in use today.

Capital equipment

The depot Jonction located in the eponymous district of Geneva close to the mouth of the Arve in the Rhône. The local operating systems extend both sides of the Avenue de la Jonction and are connected via these by service line to the contact lines of the lines 2 and 19 after Onex - Cité.

For the heavy maintenance the main workshop Bachet -de- Pesay is on the Route de la Chapelle in Grand- Lancy available that has no connection to the catenary trolley bus network. On the site there is also the management of the TPG.
