Tschagguns

Tschagguns is one marked by the tourism community in Austria in Vorarlberg with 2157 inhabitants (December 31, 2013). It is located in Montafon, a valley in the district of Bludenz.

Geography

Geographical location

Tschagguns located in the westernmost province of Austria, Vorarlberg, the district of Bludenz. The settlement area of the municipality covers an altitude 650-1200 meters above sea level.

34.2 % of the area is forested, 33.4 % of the area Alps. There are no other local villages in Tschagguns.

Above the village is the village of Tschagguns Latschau with the reservoir of Lünerseewerks and a station Golmerbahn. The stations are in ascending order:

  • Latschau station ( 985 m)
  • Matschwitz station ( 1,500 m)
  • Mountain station Golm ( 2,124 m)

The " mountain" of Tschaggunser is the lunch peak ( 2168 m above sea level. A. ).

History

The first written mention of Tschagguns was in 1431 as " Our Lady Parish in Montafon ".

The Habsburgs ruled the areas in Vorarlberg changing of Tyrol and Further Austria from ( Freiburg im Breisgau). From 1805 to 1814, the town belonged to Bavaria, then back to Austria. For the Austrian state of Vorarlberg Tschagguns heard since the foundation in 1861. The place was from 1945 to 1955 part of the French zone of occupation in Austria.

The old church of Latschau about Tschagguns burned down in 1973.

Population

Demographics

On 31 December 2002 the municipality had 2,539 inhabitants including second homes. The proportion of foreigners was placed at 7.8 per cent.

Policy

The municipal council consists of 21 members. In the 2010 local council elections the nominee as single list Open list of Peoples Party Tschagguns reached all 21 seats. As Mayor Herbert Bitschnau was confirmed with 83.70 % of votes in office.

Coat of arms

The award of the coat of arms of the municipality of Tschagguns took place on December 13, 1965 by the Provincial Government of Vorarlberg.

The coat of arms depicts a split plate: Front of Blue is a silver church shown with black roof and spire. The coat of arms is divided rear in silver and red, above a crossed black key pair and below a golden paddle wheel is visible.

  • The church as a symbol of Tschagguns reminded of the importance of place as a place of pilgrimage.
  • The paddle wheel symbolizes the water force once exploited by numerous grain and saw mills, today of four power plants ( Illwerke ).
  • The keys show the affiliation to the Montafon valley: This symbol is used since the early 15th century.

Culture and sights

  • The foundation stone for the parish and pilgrimage church of Our Lady of the Nativity of Mary was laid in 1452. It was built in honor of St. Ulrich in late Gothic style. 1598 and 1751 the church was enlarged and in 1812 to 1816, the church was extended and increased in a further expansion, and expanded by the addition of a new aisle to a symmetric system.

Economy and infrastructure

In the village there were in 2003, 33 companies in the industrial sector with 264 employees and 20 apprentices. Taxable wage -employed, there were 1,030. Tourism and tourism are important. In the tourism year 2001/2002 there were a total of 297 819 overnight stays. In SchrunsTschagguns and surroundings there are ski resorts 700-2400 meters, 62 lifts and cable cars in the places and in the surrounding area with 200 km of groomed slopes. There are also 90 major and part-time farmers with a total of 540 livestock units as well as a cultivated agricultural area about 500 ha

Above the village is the village of Tschagguns Latschau with the memory pool of Lünerseewerks. There, the Wuppertal Carl Duisberg -Gymnasium since 1927, a school camp ( " Sulzfluh " ) owns.

Traffic

Tschagguns is connected to a station on the railway Bludenz- Schruns to the railway network. Another important traffic building or landmark is the Moors Tobel tunnel on the outskirts of Tschagguns.

Sports

Review

In January 1946, the "three- towers - giant " and the Alpine combination of the Vorarlberg State Championship in Tschagguns take place. On December 29, 1946, the opening competition takes place on the newly built Ing Without Ski Jump.

The chairlift to the tomb is put into operation on 15 February 1947. It was the first chair of Vorarlberg and the time the longest chairlift in Austria. Was built in the Grabserbahn by Robert Plankl, the tenant of the Sport Hotel "Adler" ( where today the municipal office is ). He originally wanted to build a lift on the Golm. Since the Illwerke but already planning transport systems for the construction of Lünerseewerks, he opted for grabs. Since the winter of 1951/52, there was also the ski lift Hochegga in operation.

From 18 to 23 February 1947, the Austrian Championships were held in Alpine and Nordic combined in Tschagguns instead:

  • Cross-country skiing from the center Tschagguns until after Zelfen and back
  • Departure and gate travel on Grabs ( " Hartmann- exit" )
  • Ski jump on the Ing Without Ski Jump ( near the valley station of the Grabserbahn )

With the gold key races from 1963 to 1983 international ski world cup race of the ladies were alternately played on Grabs, the Kapellalpe and the Golm over the years.

The chairlift tomb was dismantled in early 2008, the T-bar lift Hochegga is still available.

Education

In Tschagguns there are two kindergartens ( Tschagguns and Latschau ). At the site there are also two elementary schools ( Tschagguns and Latschau ) with 82 students:

  • The elementary school Tschagguns currently includes 58 children who are taught in four classes. The headmaster called from September 2011 Rainer Schlatter.

Fire department

The community Tschagguns includes two volunteer fire, the local fire departments and Tschagguns Latschau. The volunteer fire department Tschagguns counts in about 50 firefighters and is housed in the renovated fire station in the Zelfenstraße. The fleet consists of a fire truck, a pump vehicle and a crew transport vehicle. The function of the commander met since 2000 Herbert Marent. The fire department, founded in 1883 is disengaged already more than 150 missions, and assistance and cares for over 50 years, a fire department partnership with the Volunteer Fire Bad Frederick Hall in the district of Heilbronn in Baden- Württemberg.

The volunteer fire department Latschau is stationed with a little less fire fighters at the fire station above the Lünerseewerks and is headed by the commander Dietmar Bitschnau. The fleet also consists of the above three vehicles.
