The Turkmenistan Manat is the currency of Turkmenistan.

1 Manat is divided into 100 antenna ( Türkmenistanyň Tennesi ). The currency was introduced in 1993 and replaced the ruble from the Soviet Time. Inflation is very high and was officially given for the year 2006 with 11%.

On 1 January 2009, the " new manat " with the ISO 4217 code TMT has been introduced. 1 TMT is 5000 old Manat ( TMM), both remained in 2009 parallel in circulation until 2010, the old manat was exchanged by all banks of Turkmenistan. There new banknotes of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 500 manat and coins of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 antenna, 1 and 2 manat were spent. The controversial ex- heads of state and head of government Saparmurat Niyazov is only mapped to the 500 manat note on the old series, he was in all notes. The reigning heads of state and head of government Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov promised the nation in a televised speech a stable value of the new currency, in contrast to previous Manat.

The course is pegged to the U.S. dollar, in the ratio 1 dollar = 2.85 manat.
