Tyler "Telle" Smith

Tyler Smith, better known as Chantelle Smith ( born August 9, 1986 in Dayton / Ohio ) is an American musician. He is a singer with The Word Alive. Smith played with before in Greeley Estates and In Fear and Faith.

Besides, he was already a guest musician with We Are Defiance, Danger Silent, his former band In Fear and Faith, Tonight Is Glory, and We Came as Romans.

Career

Tyler, who was born in August 1986 in Dayton / Ohio has three younger brothers. Between 1992 and 2005 he attended the Spring Valley Academy in Centerville. He first learned the age of 17 playing the guitar. Three years later he took singing lessons.

Among his musical influences he counts on Brand New and Sigur Rós. Among his favorite bands are 30 Seconds to Mars, As Cities Burn, Thursday, As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red, Circa Survive and City and Colour. He is a committed Christian.

In May 2007, he moved from Ohio to California. In January 2009 he moved again to a new destination. He moved from Oceanside / California to Phoenix / Arizona along with Chris Vaughn of Danger Silent. Since March 2011, he moved back to California. He lives in Hollywood.

Smith has Irish and Dutch roots.

Music career

In Fear and Faith

Smith's first band in which he played was called In Fear and Faith. In May 2007, he was one of two singers of the band until January 2008, when he decided bassist of Greeley Estates from Phoenix to become. With the band recorded the album of Voyages that appeared in 2007 in self-distribution.

Greeley Estates

In January 2008, Telle Smith joined the band for the first time. He was bassist for Greeley Estates, a post-hardcore band from Phoenix / Arizona. He remained there but only until November of the same year. He took the band on the album Go West Young Man, Let the Evil Go East, which was released on Science Records. A day after Telle Smith Greeley Estates left, the band toured with Alesana.

After he left Greeley Estates, he took over at The Word Alive singer posts by Craig Mabbitt. Mabbitt founded the band as a side project to Escape the Fate. Mabbitt left the band because he could not go on tour with her. Smith was officially launched on 3 December 2008 as the new lead singer with The Word Alive.

He took on the debut EP Empire with the band. In 2009 he confirmed to write the songs for the debut album Deceiver. The album was released on August 31, 2010 and reached number 97 on the U.S. charts.

When The Word Alive toured with Underoath in November 2010, Smith took over the place of Underoath vocalist Spencer Chamberlain, who in the past week tour drew upon food poisoning. He played a concert in Mission / Texas.

On 24 January 2011 Smith became ill in several infectious diseases, including bronchitis, laryngitis and pharyngitis. In addition, he pointed to a high fever. While Smith was in the hospital, the band toured with Texas In July and For Today. He missed by his stay in the hospital nine concerts of the tour.
