U.S. Cellular Field

Chicago White Sox (MLB ) (since 1991)

U.S. Cellular Field is a baseball stadium in Chicago, home stadium of the Chicago White Sox. U.S. Cellular Field, as it is officially known since 2004, replaced the 1991 Comiskey Park. This had been built just before a new trend was started when Ballparkbau by the construction of Oriole Park in Baltimore, the retro parks. A trend that has since followed the more or less all the new stadiums in the United States. Comiskey II, as it was first called, on the other hand fell sharply, with a very heavy concrete façade took it to the fans first little appeal.

So the decision was made after only ten years an extensive renovation of the stadium. The interventions were large, as represented, for example, the upper part of the upper tier (6 seats ) to make the overhanging ranks outwardly respectable, while enabling a new roof, reminiscent in shape to cast-iron models of earlier times. Same time, new seats were created in the outfield.

With the replacement of blue seats with green one has taken another step towards retro design. With the start of the 2007 season are the renovations, which amounted to almost three quarters of the costs for new construction, completed first.
