The Citizens Bank Park is a baseball stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is the home of the Philadelphia Phillies, a major league baseball team in the National League. Currently, the stadium holds 43,647 spectators.

History

The stadium replaced the now demolished Veterans Stadium, which was the home of the Phillies until then. However, it was not the football team Philadelphia Eagles pure ballpark and there was also play their home games. Decided in 1998, the state legislature of Pennsylvania to replace the stadium as well as the Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh by new stadiums. Originally, there were efforts to build the stadium in downtown. After objections from local residents, the stadium was finally built in a southern suburb near the Lincoln Financial Field. On June 17, 2003, it was announced that the naming rights to the next 25 years were sold for $ 95 million at the Citizens Bank. In April 2004, the Phillies finally were able to purchase their new home.

Events

The first concert at Citizens Bank Park was that of Jimmy Buffett on August 25, 2005. Meanwhile, even Bon Jovi and The Police concert at the stadium had. 2009 Billy Joel and Elton John gave each here a concert on 30 July and 1 August.

On 2 January 2012, the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers contested the fifth NHL Winter Classic of History at the stadium.
