The University of Strathclyde ( or in English: University of Strathclyde ) in Glasgow, Scotland is a British university, which was founded as Anderson's Institution, 1796. The device was based on the visions of John Anderson, Professor of Natural Philosophy at Glasgow University, the instructions for a university gave in his will, which focuses on the " useful learning", and focused on practical and professional topics. From 1828 to 1877 the establishment was called Anderson 's University. In the 1890s, a successful appeal for donations of equipment enabled significant expansion options. this created the Glasgow and West of Scotland Technical College Building. 1912 was awarded the institution the name Royal Technical College and in 1964 it became the University of Strathclyde, received by the Royal Charter.

In five faculties 22,000 students are taught at the university. Of these, 7,000 are postgraduates. More 34,000 people take part in training courses at the University. The campus of the University is located in central Glasgow, close to George Square, and there is a campus in the suburb of Jordan Hill, on the grounds of the former Jordan Hill Teacher Training College.
